  • This episode marks the final appearances of Nick, Loretta, Gino and Serafina Tortelli in the series.
  • The song parodied in the title was "Love and Marriage" with has lyrics by Sammy Cahn and music by Jimmy Van Heusen. It was introduced by Frank Sinatra in the 1955 television production "Our Town" that aired on Producers' Showcase.
  • One of the episodes gags relating to the re-gifting of a set of Star Trek steak knives. A number of Cheers cast members were connected to the Star Trek franchise. Kirstie Alley co starred in Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan, while Kelsey Grammar and Bebe Neuwirth each made guest appearances on Star Trek The Next Generation. Ted Danson at the time was dating Whoopie Goldberg, who played a recurring role on Star Trek The Next Generation. Danson would also later marry Mary Steenburgen, whose ex husband Malcolm McDowell co starred in Star Trek Generations and was an uncle of Star Trek Deep Space Nine cast member Alexander Siddig. In addition, Norm inspired a nonspeaking background character named Morn on Star Trek Deep Space Nine.
