Bar Wars VI: This Time It's for Real is the twenty-third episode of the tenth season of the NBC series Cheers.

Synopsis[]

Gary has sold his bar to a suspicious new owner whom the gang at Cheers decide to haze. It appears that they're in way over their heads when it is learned who the new owner really is and must now deal with potential consequences.

Trivia[]

  • This is the second Bar Wars episode in which rival bar owner Gary does not appear on screen even though he is significant to the plot. The other episode this happened in was Bar Wars III: The Return of Tecumseh.
  • John Kerry appears as himself in the pre-credits sequence, in which he has a brief exchange with Norm and Cliff. Kerry would later go on to serve as the 68th United States Secretary of State from 2013 to 2017. He previously served as a United States Senator from Massachusetts from 1985 until 2013. He was the Democratic nominee in the 2004 presidential election, losing to Republican incumbent George W. Bush. He served as the 66th Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts from March 6, 1983 - January 2, 1985. His last name is misspelled as "Kerrey" in the closing credits.
  • Sam, Carla, Woody, Norm, and Cliff go to Gary's Olde Town Tavern leaving only Rebecca, who is tied up with personal business. This leaves Cheers unattended even though it is open for business and full of customers.
  • The Cheers gang goes to Gary's Olde Town Tavern during the daytime but the exterior shot shows it is dark outside.
