Gus O'Malley was the owner of Cheers before Sam Malone.
Character[]
It is said that he sold the bar so he could live the last few years of his life in adventure (O'Malley had a heart condition). He only appeared in "Last Picture Show", in which he takes charge while Sam leaves for the night. However, during this, he proves himself to be a very strict boss, much to the dismay of Carla and Rebecca. Despite his attitude, O'Malley proves himself to be the drastically more profitable than Sam's administration.
Continuity: In Season 1 Episode 2 "Sam's Women", Coach tells a patron who comes looking for Gus that Gus is dead. In the same episode Norm says that Gus was the owner 2 owners back.
