This season saw the engagement of Sam and Diane, as well as the start of Lilith and Frasier's romance. This was the last season to feature Shelley Long before leaving the show to return her film career, starting with Hello Again, though she would guest star in season 11 during the series finale. Starting in Season 6, Kirstie Alley joined the cast.
